Too bad for the wicked sinners! For they will get exactly what they deserve. ¹ 

I will avenge ¹  their blood which I had not previously acquitted. It is the Lord who dwells in Zion!

Woe to the city guilty of bloodshed! ¹  She is full of lies; ²  she is filled with plunder; ³  she has hoarded her spoil! ⁴ 

You are bound for judgment ¹  because you are robbing me – this whole nation is guilty. ² 

Or have you not read in the law that the priests in the temple desecrate the Sabbath and yet are not guilty?

For you have brought these men here who are neither temple robbers ¹  nor blasphemers of our goddess. ² 

When ¹  they had heard my case, ²  they wanted to release me, ³  because there was no basis for a death sentence ⁴  against me.

For sin, seizing the opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it I died. ¹ 

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. ¹ 

For if God did not spare the natural branches, perhaps he will not spare you.

But if I build up again those things I once destroyed, ¹  I demonstrate that I am one who breaks God’s law. ² 

But if you show prejudice, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as violators. ¹ 

So whoever knows what is good to do ¹  and does not do it is guilty of sin. ² 

Far be it from you to do such a thing – to kill the godly with the wicked, treating the godly and the wicked alike! Far be it from you! Will not the judge ¹  of the whole earth do what is right?” ² 

Then Abimelech exclaimed, “What in the world have you done to us? ¹  One of the men ²  might easily have had sexual relations with ³  your wife, and you would have brought guilt on us!”

or anything about which he swears falsely. ¹  He must restore it in full ²  and add one fifth to it; he must give it to its owner when he is found guilty. ³ 

If a man has sexual intercourse with his father’s wife, he has exposed his father’s nakedness. ¹  Both of them must be put to death; their blood guilt is on themselves. ² 

You must be loyal ¹  to your servant, for you have made a covenant with your servant in the Lord’s name. ²  If I am guilty, ³  you yourself kill me! Why bother taking me to your father?”

You will probably ask yourself, ¹  ‘Why have these things happened to me? Why have I been treated like a disgraced adulteress whose skirt has been torn off and her limbs exposed?’ ²  It is because you have sinned so much. ³ 

But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who calls himself a Christian ¹  who is sexually immoral, or greedy, or an idolater, or verbally abusive, ²  or a drunkard, or a swindler. Do not even eat with such a person.
