by saving their lives from death ¹  and sustaining them during times of famine. ² 

whenever ¹  I remember you on my bed, and think about you during the nighttime hours.

It is fitting ¹  to proclaim your loyal love in the morning, and your faithfulness during the night,

Sons born during one’s youth are like arrows in a warrior’s hand. ¹ 

In those days I, Daniel, was mourning for three whole weeks. ¹ 

I cared ¹  for you in the wilderness, in the dry desert where no water was. ² 

Pray ¹  that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath.

Its gates will never be closed during the day ¹  (and ²  there will be no night there). ³

You must not do any work on this particular day, ¹  because it is a day of atonement to make atonement for yourselves ²  before the Lord your God.

Now ¹  all the men ²  who left were circumcised, but all the sons ³  born on the journey through the desert after they left Egypt were uncircumcised.

That night the Lord said to Gideon, ¹  “Get up! Attack ²  the camp, for I am handing it over to you. ³ 

The Israelites humiliated Midian; the Midianites’ fighting spirit was broken. ¹  The land had rest for forty years during Gideon’s time. ² 

But Barzillai was very old – eighty years old, in fact – and he had taken care of the king when he stayed in Mahanaim, for he was a very rich ¹  man.

All the people of Judah and Israel had security; everyone from Dan to Beer Sheba enjoyed the produce of their vines and fig trees throughout Solomon’s lifetime. ¹ 

He issued this edict because ¹  a Passover like this had not been observed since the days of the judges; it was neglected for the entire period of the kings of Israel and Judah. ² 

Two sons were born to Eber: the first was named Peleg, for during his lifetime the earth was divided; ¹  his brother’s name was Joktan.

They supported ¹  the kingdom of Judah and were loyal to ²  Rehoboam son of Solomon for three years; they followed the edicts of ³  David and Solomon for three years.
