so I may see the prosperity ¹  of your chosen ones, rejoice along with your nation, ²  and boast along with the people who belong to you. ³ 

You ¹  have enlarged the nation; you give them great joy. ²  They rejoice in your presence as harvesters rejoice; as warriors celebrate ³  when they divide up the plunder.

Out of those places you will hear songs of thanksgiving ¹  and the sounds of laughter and merriment. I will increase their number and they will not dwindle away. ²  I will bring them honor and they will no longer be despised.

Jesus said to them, “The wedding guests ¹  cannot mourn while the bridegroom ²  is with them, can they? But the days ³  are coming when the bridegroom will be taken from them, ⁴  and then they will fast.

Jesus ¹  said to them, “The wedding guests ²  cannot fast while the bridegroom ³  is with them, can they? ⁴  As long as they have the bridegroom with them they do not fast.

So ¹  Jesus said to them, “You cannot make the wedding guests ²  fast while the bridegroom ³  is with them, can you? ⁴ 

For we rejoice whenever we are weak, but you are strong. And we pray for this: that you may become fully qualified. ¹ 

Therefore do not let anyone judge you with respect to food or drink, or in the matter of a feast, new moon, or Sabbath days –

(Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets, for God has pronounced judgment ¹  against her on your behalf!) ² 

David replied to Michal, “It was before the Lord! I was celebrating before the Lord, who chose me over your father and his entire family ¹  and appointed me as leader over the Lord’s people Israel.

Throughout every province and throughout every city where the king’s edict and his law arrived, the Jews experienced happiness and joy, banquets and holidays. Many of the resident peoples ¹  pretended ²  to be Jews, because the fear of the Jews had overcome them. ³ 

The child grew and was weaned. Abraham prepared ¹  a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned. ² 

When you enter the land that the Lord will give to you, just as he said, you must observe ¹  this ceremony.

“‘These are the Lord’s appointed times, holy assemblies, which you must proclaim at their appointed time.

Of Zebulun he said: Rejoice, Zebulun, when you go outside, and Issachar, when you are in your tents.

The women who were playing the music sang, “Saul has struck down his thousands, but David his tens of thousands!”

Jonathan said to him, “Tomorrow is the new moon, and you will be missed, for your seat will be empty.

Then Elijah told Ahab, “Go on up and eat and drink, for the sound of a heavy rainstorm can be heard.” ¹ 

Then Jehu ordered, “Make arrangements for ¹  a celebration for Baal.” So they announced it.

They spent three days feasting ¹  there with David, for their relatives had given them provisions.
