The ¹  angel answered him, “I am Gabriel, who stands ²  in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to bring ³  you this good news.

So ¹  Mary said, “Yes, ²  I am a servant ³  of the Lord; let this happen to me ⁴  according to your word.” ⁵  Then ⁶  the angel departed from her.

An ¹  angel of the Lord ²  appeared to ³  them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were absolutely terrified. ⁴ 

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid! Listen carefully, ¹  for I proclaim to you good news ²  that brings great joy to all the people:

At ¹  the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was named Jesus, the name given by the angel ²  before he was conceived in the womb.

“I ¹  tell you, whoever acknowledges ²  me before men, ³  the Son of Man will also acknowledge ⁴  before God’s angels.

In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels ¹  over one sinner who repents.”

“Now ¹  the poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. ²  The ³  rich man also died and was buried. ⁴ 

and when they did not find his body, they came back and said they had seen a vision of angels, ¹  who said he was alive.

He continued, ¹  “I tell all of you the solemn truth ²  – you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” ³ 

The crowd that stood there and heard the voice ¹  said that it had thundered. Others said that an angel had spoken to him. ² 

And she saw two angels in white sitting where Jesus’ body had been lying, one at the head and one at the feet.

“After ¹  forty years had passed, an angel appeared to him in the desert ²  of Mount Sinai, in the flame of a burning bush. ³ 

This is the man who was in the congregation ¹  in the wilderness ²  with the angel who spoke to him at Mount Sinai, and with our ancestors, ³  and he ⁴  received living oracles ⁵  to give to you. ⁶ 

Then an angel of the Lord ¹  said to Philip, ²  “Get up and go south ³  on the road that goes down from Jerusalem ⁴  to Gaza.” (This is a desert ⁵  road.) ⁶ 

When the angel who had spoken to him departed, Cornelius ¹  called two of his personal servants ²  and a devout soldier from among those who served him, ³ 

He informed us how he had seen an angel standing in his house and saying, ‘Send to Joppa and summon Simon, who is called Peter,

But they said to her, “You’ve lost your mind!” ¹  But she kept insisting that it was Peter, ²  and they kept saying, ³  “It is his angel!” ⁴ 

Immediately an angel of the Lord ¹  struck ²  Herod ³  down because he did not give the glory to God, and he was eaten by worms and died. ⁴ 

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor heavenly rulers, ¹  nor things that are present, nor things to come, nor powers,
