After Isaac ¹  had been there a long time, ²  Abimelech king of the Philistines happened to look out a window and observed ³  Isaac caressing ⁴  his wife Rebekah.

Finally Jacob said ¹  to Laban, “Give me my wife, for my time of service is up. ²  I want to have marital relations with her.” ³ 

Jacob did as Laban said. ¹  When Jacob ²  completed Leah’s bridal week, ³  Laban gave him his daughter Rachel to be his wife. ⁴ 

Then Leah said, “God has granted me a reward ¹  because I gave my servant to my husband as a wife.” ²  So she named him Issachar. ³ 

But Hamor made this appeal to them: “My son Shechem is in love with your daughter. ¹  Please give her to him as his wife.

Timna, a concubine of Esau’s son Eliphaz, bore Amalek to Eliphaz. These were the sons ¹  of Esau’s wife Adah.

These were the sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah the daughter of Anah and granddaughter ¹  of Zibeon: She bore Jeush, Jalam, and Korah to Esau.

There Judah saw the daughter of a Canaanite man ¹  named Shua. ²  Judah acquired her as a wife ³  and had marital relations with her. ⁴ 

Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, together with Moses’ ¹  sons and his wife, came to Moses in the desert where he was camping by ²  the mountain of God. ³ 

He said ¹  to Moses, “I, your father-in-law Jethro, am coming to you, along with your wife and her two sons with her.”

But if the servant should declare, ¹  ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out ²  free,’

If he takes another wife, ¹  he must not diminish the first one’s food, ²  her clothing, or her marital rights. ³

You must not have sexual intercourse with your daughter-in-law; she is your son’s wife. You must not have intercourse with her.

You must not take a woman in marriage and then marry her sister as a rival wife ¹  while she is still alive, ²  to have sexual intercourse with her.

If a man ¹  commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, ²  both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death.

If a man has sexual intercourse with ¹  his brother’s wife, it is indecency. He has exposed his brother’s nakedness; ²  they will be childless.

He must not marry ¹  a widow, a divorced woman, or one profaned by prostitution; he may only take a virgin from his people ²  as a wife.
