Then the Jewish leaders ¹  were astonished ²  and said, “How does this man know so much when he has never had formal instruction?” ³ 

“We are descendants ¹  of Abraham,” they replied, ²  “and have never been anyone’s slaves! How can you say, ³  ‘You will become free’?”

The Jewish leaders ¹  surrounded him and asked, ²  “How long will you keep us in suspense? ³  If you are the Christ, ⁴  tell us plainly.” ⁵ 

After this ¹  Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias. ²  Now this is how he did so. ³ 

The man ¹  replied, “How in the world can I, ²  unless someone guides me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

But Ananias replied, ¹  “Lord, I have heard from many people ²  about this man, how much harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem,

He informed us how he had seen an angel standing in his house and saying, ‘Send to Joppa and summon Simon, who is called Peter,

How then was it credited to him? Was he circumcised at the time, or not? No, he was not circumcised but uncircumcised!

God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew! Do you not know what the scripture says about Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel?

Now if their transgression means riches for the world and their defeat means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their full restoration ¹  bring?

And I want you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the things of the Lord, how to please the Lord.

Now if Christ is being preached as raised from the dead, ¹  how can some of you say there is no resurrection of the dead?

For if there was glory in the ministry that produced condemnation, ¹  how much more does the ministry that produces righteousness ²  excel ³  in glory!

And his affection for you is much greater ¹  when he remembers the obedience of you all, how you welcomed him with fear and trembling.

For how ¹  were you treated worse than the other churches, except that I myself was not a burden to you? Forgive me this injustice!

For you have heard of my former way of life ¹  in Judaism, how I was savagely persecuting the church of God and trying to destroy it.

I sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are doing ¹  and that he may encourage your hearts.

You are witnesses, and so is God, as to how holy and righteous and blameless our conduct was toward you who believe.

For how can we thank God enough for you, ¹  for all the joy we feel ²  because of you before our God?

Be conscientious about how you live and what you teach. ¹  Persevere in this, because by doing so you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.
