Similarly good works are also obvious, and the ones that are not cannot remain hidden.

Protect that good thing ¹  entrusted to you, through the Holy Spirit who lives within us.

Take your share of suffering ¹  as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, savage, opposed to what is good,

that the person dedicated to God ¹  may be capable ²  and equipped for every good work.

tasted the good word of God and the miracles of the coming age,

Do they not blaspheme the good name of the one you belong to? ¹ 

or to governors as those he commissions ¹  to punish wrongdoers and praise ²  those who do good.

For God wants you ¹  to silence the ignorance of foolish people by doing good.

For ¹  who is going to harm you if you are devoted to what is good?

He must not replace or exchange it, good for bad or bad for good, and if he does indeed exchange one animal for another animal, then both the original animal ¹  and its substitute will be holy.

Do whatever is proper ¹  and good before the Lord so that it may go well with you and that you may enter and occupy the good land that he ²  promised your ancestors,

What good will it do you ¹  then ²  to go down to Egypt to seek help from the Egyptians? ³  What good will it do you ⁴  to go over to Assyria to seek help from the Assyrians? ⁵ 

The Lord said to me, “What do you see, Jeremiah?” I answered, “I see figs. The good ones look very good. But the bad ones look very bad, so bad that they cannot be eaten.”

I will give them a single-minded purpose to live in a way that always shows respect for me. They will want to do that for ¹  their own good and the good of the children who descend from them.
