Ephraim has mixed itself like flour ¹  among the nations; Ephraim is like a ruined cake of bread that is scorched on one side. ² 

But he answered, ¹  “It is written, ‘Man ²  does not live ³  by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” ⁴ 

The disciples said to him, “Where can we get enough bread in this desolate place to satisfy so great a crowd?”

When Jesus learned of this, ¹  he said, “You who have such little faith! ²  Why are you arguing ³  among yourselves about having no bread?

How could you not understand that I was not speaking to you about bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees!”

Then they understood that he had not told them to be on guard against the yeast in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

While ¹  they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after giving thanks he broke it, gave it to his disciples, and said, “Take, eat, this is my body.”

He instructed them to take nothing for the journey except a staff ¹  – no bread, no bag, ²  no money in their belts –

While they were eating, he took bread, and after giving thanks he broke it, gave it to them, and said, “Take it. This is my body.”

He ¹  said to them, “Take nothing for your ²  journey – no staff, ³  no bag, ⁴  no bread, no money, and do not take an extra tunic. ⁵ 

When ¹  he had taken his place at the table ²  with them, he took the bread, blessed and broke it, ³  and gave it to them.

Philip replied, ¹  “Two hundred silver coins worth ²  of bread would not be enough for them, for each one to get a little.”

But some boats from Tiberias ¹  came to shore ²  near the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks. ³ 

Our ancestors ¹  ate the manna in the wilderness, just as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” ² 

Then the Jews who were hostile to Jesus ¹  began complaining about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven,”

This ¹  is the bread that has come down from heaven, so that a person ²  may eat from it and not die.

And after Judas ¹  took the piece of bread, Satan entered into him. ²  Jesus said to him, ³  “What you are about to do, do quickly.”

When they got out on the beach, ¹  they saw a charcoal fire ready ²  with a fish placed on it, and bread.

Every day ¹  they continued to gather together by common consent in the temple courts, ²  breaking bread from ³  house to house, sharing their food with glad ⁴  and humble hearts, ⁵ 

When he saw that this pleased the Jews, ¹  he proceeded to arrest Peter too. (This took place during the feast of Unleavened Bread.) ²
