Then he said to them, “My soul is deeply grieved, even to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake with me.”

and offered Jesus ¹  wine mixed with gall to drink. ²  But after tasting it, he would not drink it.

The ¹  next day (which is after the day of preparation) the chief priests and the Pharisees ²  assembled before Pilate

and said, “Sir, we remember that while that deceiver was still alive he said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’

So ¹  they left the tomb quickly, with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.

After ¹  they had assembled with the elders and formed a plan, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers,

Now ¹  as soon as they left the synagogue, ²  they entered Simon and Andrew’s house, with James and John.

So ¹  the Pharisees ²  went out immediately and began plotting with the Herodians, ³  as to how they could assassinate ⁴  him.

He ¹  appointed twelve (whom he named apostles ² ), ³  so that they would be with him and he could send them to preach

As he was getting into the boat the man who had been demon-possessed asked if he could go ¹  with him.

Immediately he got into a boat with his disciples and went to the district of Dalmanutha. ¹ 

Now ¹  they had forgotten to take bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat.

They will mock him, spit on him, flog ¹  him severely, and kill him. Yet ²  after three days, ³  he will rise again.”

Then everyone ¹  will see the Son of Man arriving in the clouds ²  with great power and glory.

He said to them, “It is one of the twelve, one who dips his hand ¹  with me into the bowl. ² 

He took Peter, James, ¹  and John with him, and became very troubled and distressed.

Jesus said to them, “Have you come with swords and clubs to arrest me like you would an outlaw? ¹ 

A man named Barabbas was imprisoned with rebels who had committed murder during an insurrection.

After this he appeared in a different form to two of them while they were on their way to the country.

After some time ¹  his wife Elizabeth became pregnant, ²  and for five months she kept herself in seclusion. ³  She said, ⁴
