Now if a man finds his enemy, does he send him on his way in good shape? May the Lord repay you with good this day for what you have done to me.

He delivers me from my enemies; ¹  you snatch me away ²  from those who attack me; ³  you rescue me from violent men.

He delivers me ¹  from my enemies; you snatch me away ²  from those who attack me; ³  you rescue me from violent men.

Or ‘Deliver me ¹  from the enemy’s power, ²  and from the hand of tyrants ³  ransom ⁴  me’?

Thus ¹  his anger burns against me, and he considers me among his enemies. ² 

or have wronged my ally, ¹  or helped his lawless enemy, ² 

You determine my destiny! ¹  Rescue me from the power of my enemies and those who chase me.

You made us retreat ¹  from the enemy. Those who hate us take whatever they want from us. ² 

May those who wait to ambush me ¹  be repaid for their evil! ²  As a demonstration of your faithfulness, ³  destroy them!

They ¹  rebel against you ²  and act deceitfully; ³  your enemies lie. ⁴ 

I, the Lord, promise that ¹  I will hand Pharaoh Hophra ²  king of Egypt over to his enemies who are seeking to kill him. I will do that just as surely as I handed King Zedekiah of Judah over to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, his enemy who was seeking to kill him.’”

I will indeed bless you, ¹  and I will greatly multiply ²  your descendants ³  so that they will be as countless as the stars in the sky or the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession ⁴  of the strongholds ⁵  of their enemies.

Judah, ¹  your brothers will praise you. Your hand will be on the neck of your enemies, your father’s sons will bow down before you.

Your right hand, O Lord, was majestic ¹  in power, your right hand, O Lord, shattered the enemy.

“‘Then the land will make up for ¹  its Sabbaths all the days it lies desolate while you are in the land of your enemies; then the land will rest and make up its Sabbaths.

They will stumble over each other as those who flee before a sword, though ¹  there is no pursuer, and there will be no one to take a stand ²  for you before your enemies.

“‘As for the ones who remain among you, they will rot away because of ¹  their iniquity in the lands of your enemies, and they will also rot away because of their ancestors’ ²  iniquities which are with them.

(and I myself will walk in hostility against them and bring them into the land of their enemies), and ¹  then their uncircumcised hearts become humbled and they make up for ²  their iniquity,

And when the ark traveled, Moses would say, “Rise up, O Lord! May your enemies be scattered, and may those who hate you flee before you!”

Then Balak said to Balaam, “What have you done to me? I brought you to curse my enemies, but on the contrary ¹  you have only blessed them!” ²
