When you go into the ripe grain fields of your neighbor you may pluck off the kernels with your hand, ¹  but you must not use a sickle on your neighbor’s ripe grain.

If anyone has an ear, he had better listen!

“Now a word was secretly ¹  brought ²  to me, and my ear caught ³  a whisper ⁴  of it.

But I am like a deaf man – I hear nothing; I am like a mute who cannot speak. ¹ 

Their venom is like that of a snake, ¹  like a deaf serpent ²  that does not hear, ³ 

Does the one who makes the human ear not hear? Does the one who forms the human eye not see? ¹
