The hope ¹  of the righteous is joy, but the expectation of the wicked will remain unfulfilled. ² 

Doing ¹  justice brings ²  joy to the righteous and terror ³  to those who do evil.

Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread, ¹  which is called the Passover, was approaching.

and were continually in the temple courts ¹  blessing ²  God. ³ 

Now on the third day there was a wedding at Cana ¹  in Galilee. ²  Jesus’ mother ³  was there,

and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding. ¹ 

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say, rejoice!

Why did you run away secretly ¹  and deceive me? ²  Why didn’t you tell me so I could send you off with a celebration complete with singing, tambourines, and harps? ³ 

¹ Afterward Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, “Thus says the Lord, ²  the God of Israel, ‘Release ³  my people so that they may hold a pilgrim feast ⁴  to me in the desert.’”

You are to tell your son ¹  on that day, ²  ‘It is ³  because of what ⁴  the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.’

It happened that some men ¹  who were ceremonially defiled ²  by the dead body of a man ³  could not keep ⁴  the Passover on that day, so they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day.

They may observe it on the fourteenth day of the second month ¹  at twilight; they are to eat it with bread made without yeast and with bitter herbs.

All the people followed him up, playing flutes and celebrating so loudly they made the ground shake. ¹ 

All the people of the land celebrated, for the city had rest now that they had killed Athaliah with the sword in the royal palace.

So David, the leaders of Israel, and the commanders of units of a thousand went to bring up the ark of the Lord’s covenant from the house of Obed-Edom with celebration.

He appointed some of the Levites to serve before the ark of the Lord, to offer prayers, songs of thanks, and hymns to the Lord God of Israel.

At that time Solomon and all Israel with him celebrated a festival for seven days. This great assembly included people from Lebo Hamath in the north to the Brook of Egypt in the south. ¹ 

The celebration included ¹  the entire assembly of Judah, the priests, the Levites, the entire assembly of those who came from Israel, the resident foreigners who came from the land of Israel, and the residents of Judah.

There was a great celebration in Jerusalem, unlike anything that had occurred in Jerusalem since the time of King Solomon son of David of Israel. ¹ 

All of this happened on the thirteenth day of the month of Adar. They then rested on the fourteenth day and made it a day for banqueting and happiness.
