It claps ¹  its hands at him in derision and hisses him away from his place. ² 

They come in as through a wide breach; amid the crash ¹  they come rolling in. ² 

For to the snow he says, ‘Fall ¹  to earth,’ and to the torrential rains, ²  ‘Pour down.’ ³ 

He made the sky sink ¹  as he descended; a thick cloud was under his feet.

Your thunderous voice was heard in the wind; the lightning bolts lit up the world; the earth trembled and shook. ¹ 

Dark clouds surround him; equity and justice are the foundation of his throne. ¹ 

but when the hot wind ¹  blows by, it disappears, and one can no longer even spot the place where it once grew.

The sailors ¹  rejoiced because the waves ²  grew quiet, and he led them to the harbor ³  they desired.

Hurl lightning bolts and scatter them! Shoot your arrows and rout them! ¹ 

But the wicked are like a surging sea that is unable to be quiet; its waves toss up mud and sand.

For the day is near, the day of the Lord is near; it will be a day of storm clouds, ¹  it will be a time of judgment ²  for the nations.

They rush into ¹  the city; they scale ²  its walls. They climb up into the houses; they go in through the windows like a thief.

So they picked Jonah up and threw him into the sea, and the sea stopped raging.

They ¹  heaped insults ²  on him, saying, ³  “You are his disciple! ⁴  We are disciples of Moses!

Indeed, they are barely planted; yes, they are barely sown; yes, they barely take root in the earth, and then he blows on them, causing them to dry up, and the wind carries them away like straw.

“‘Therefore this is what the sovereign Lord says: In my rage I will make a violent wind break out. In my anger there will be a deluge of rain and hailstones in destructive fury.

The hail struck everything in the open fields, both ¹  people and animals, throughout all the land of Egypt. The hail struck everything that grows ²  in the field, and it broke all the trees of the field to pieces.

Pray to the Lord, for the mighty ¹  thunderings and hail are too much! ²  I will release you and you will stay no longer.” ³ 

When Pharaoh saw ¹  that the rain and hail and thunder ceased, he sinned again: ²  both he and his servants hardened ³  their hearts.

On ¹  the third day in the morning there was thunder and lightning and a dense ²  cloud on the mountain, and the sound of a very loud ³  horn; ⁴  all the people who were in the camp trembled.
