Then Paul and his companions put out to sea ¹  from Paphos ²  and came to Perga ³  in Pamphylia, ⁴  but John ⁵  left them and returned to Jerusalem. ⁶ 

We ¹  sailed away from Philippi ²  after the days of Unleavened Bread, ³  and within five days ⁴  we came to the others ⁵  in Troas, ⁶  where we stayed for seven days.

Since considerable time had passed and the voyage was now dangerous ¹  because the fast ²  was already over, ³  Paul advised them, ⁴ 

They also bestowed many honors, ¹  and when we were preparing to sail, ²  they gave ³  us all the supplies we needed. ⁴ 

Three times I was beaten with a rod. ¹  Once I received a stoning. ²  Three times I suffered shipwreck. A night and a day I spent adrift in the open sea.

Noah entered the ark along with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives because ¹  of the floodwaters.

male and female, came into the ark to Noah, ¹  just as God had commanded him. ² 

Pairs ¹  of all creatures ²  that have the breath of life came into the ark to Noah.

The waters completely overwhelmed ¹  the earth, and the ark floated ²  on the surface of the waters.

On the seventeenth day of the seventh month, the ark came to rest on one of the mountains of Ararat. ¹ 

At the end of forty days, ¹  Noah opened the window he had made in the ark ² 

“Come out of the ark, you, your wife, your sons, and your sons’ wives with you.

The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (Now Ham was the father of Canaan.) ¹ 

Hiram sent his fleet and some of his sailors, who were well acquainted with the sea, to serve with Solomon’s men. ¹

They ¹  reached up to the sky, then dropped into the depths. The sailors’ strength ²  left them ³  because the danger was so great. ⁴ 

Now the coastlands will tremble on the day of your fall; the coastlands by the sea will be terrified by your passing.’ ¹ 

And a great storm developed on the sea so that the waves began to swamp the boat. But he was asleep.

After getting into a boat he crossed to the other side and came to his own town. ¹ 

Meanwhile the boat, already far from land, ¹  was taking a beating from the waves because the wind was against it.
