and will cut him in two, ¹  and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

He took a pair ¹  of oxen and cut them up. All the people of the land went and demolished ¹  the temple of Baal. They smashed its altars and idols ²  to bits. ³  They killed Mattan the priest of Baal in front of the altar. Jehoiada the priest ⁴  then placed guards at the Lord’s temple.

When the argument became ¹  so great the commanding officer ²  feared that they would tear Paul to pieces, ³  he ordered the detachment ⁴  to go down, take him away from them by force, ⁵  and bring him into the barracks. ⁶

You were watching as ¹  a stone was cut out, ²  but not by human hands. It struck the statue on its iron and clay feet, breaking them in pieces.

(14:1) ¹  Samaria will be held guilty, ²  because she rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword, their infants will be dashed to the ground – their ³  pregnant women will be ripped open.

You ¹  devour my people’s flesh, strip off their skin, and crush their bones. You chop them up like flesh in a pot ²  – like meat in a kettle.

They ¹  all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up the broken pieces left over, seven baskets full.

When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?” They replied, “Twelve.”

“When I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?” They replied, ¹  “Seven.”

They all ate and were satisfied, and what was left over ¹  was picked up – twelve baskets of broken pieces.

and the rest were to follow, ¹  some on planks ²  and some on pieces of the ship. ³  And in this way ⁴  all were brought safely to land.

he ¹  will rule ²  them with an iron rod ³  and like clay jars he will break them to pieces, ⁴
