There will be very few of you left, though at one time you were as numerous as the stars in the sky, ¹  because you will have disobeyed ²  the Lord your God.

but you must not make an agreement with the people who live in this land. You should tear down the altars where they worship.’ ¹  But you have disobeyed me. ²  Why would you do such a thing? ³ 

But if that nation does what displeases me and does not obey me, then I will cancel the good I promised to do to it.

Yes, ¹  the descendants of Jonadab son of Rechab have carried out the orders that their ancestor gave them. But you people ²  have not obeyed me!

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its desires,

For it is time for judgment to begin, starting with the house ¹  of God. And if it starts with us, what will be the fate ²  of those who are disobedient to the gospel of God?

But when they came in and took possession of it, they did not obey you or live as you had instructed them. They did not do anything that you commanded them to do. ¹  So you brought all this disaster on them.

We and our wives and our sons and daughters have obeyed everything our ancestor Jonadab commanded us. We have never drunk wine. ¹ 

Then those who are far away ¹  will come and build the temple of the Lord so that you may know that the Lord who rules over all has sent me to you. This will all come to pass if you completely obey the voice of the Lord your God.”’”

They were all amazed so that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He even commands the unclean spirits and they obey him.”

Then ¹  he said to them, “Where is your faith?” ²  But they were afraid and amazed, ³  saying to one another, “Who then is this? He commands even the winds and the water, ⁴  and they obey him!”

So ¹  the Lord replied, ²  “If ³  you had faith the size of ⁴  a mustard seed, you could say to this black mulberry ⁵  tree, ‘Be pulled out by the roots and planted in the sea,’ ⁶  and it would obey ⁷  you.

“‘If you walk in my statutes and are sure to obey my commandments, ¹ 

But if they refuse to listen, they pass over the river of death, ¹  and expire without knowledge.

Then I will keep ¹  your law continually now and for all time. ² 

This ¹  has been my practice, for I observe your precepts.

Deliver me ¹  from oppressive men, so that I can keep ²  your precepts.

I keep your rules; I love them greatly.

Revive me with ¹  your loyal love, that I might keep ²  the rules you have revealed. ³ 

פ (Pe) Your rules are marvelous. Therefore I observe them.
