This took place on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month of King Darius’ second year. ¹ 

¹ This will be your confirmation that I have spoken the truth: ²  This year you will eat what grows wild, ³  and next year ⁴  what grows on its own from that. But in the third year you will plant seed and harvest crops; you will plant vines and consume their produce. ⁵

In the twenty-fifth year of our exile, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after the city ¹  was struck down, on this very day, ²  the hand ³  of the Lord was on me, and he brought me there. ⁴ 

When Isaac planted in that land, he reaped in the same year a hundred times what he had sown, ¹  because the Lord blessed him. ² 

Your lamb must be ¹  perfect, ²  a male, one year old; ³  you may take ⁴  it from the sheep or from the goats.

I will not drive them out before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the wild animals ¹  multiply against you.

“You must observe ¹  the Feast of Weeks – the firstfruits of the harvest of wheat – and the Feast of Ingathering at the end ²  of the year.

Then tell the Israelites: ‘Take a male goat ¹  for a sin offering and a calf and lamb, both a year old and flawless, ²  for a burnt offering,

Then in the fifth year you may eat its fruit to add its produce to your harvest. ¹  I am the Lord your God.

That fiftieth year will be your jubilee; you must not sow the land, harvest its aftergrowth, or pick the grapes of its unpruned vines. ¹ 

I will command my blessing for you in the sixth year so that it may yield ¹  the produce ²  for three years,

He must be with you as a hired worker, as a resident foreigner; ¹  he must serve with you until the year of jubilee,

If, however, ¹  he is not redeemed in these ways, he must go free ²  in the jubilee year, he and his children with him,

In the jubilee year the field will return to the one from whom he bought it, the one to whom it belongs as landed property.

¹ The Lord spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they had come out ²  of the land of Egypt:
