I am writing to you, fathers, that ¹  you have known him who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young people, that ²  you have conquered the evil one. ³ 

He stretched out his hand and touched ¹  him saying, “I am willing. Be clean!” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

“I ¹  am sending you out like sheep surrounded by wolves, ²  so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.

For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ ¹  and they will mislead many.

and declared, “This man ¹  said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”

Moved with compassion, ¹  Jesus ²  stretched out his hand and touched ³  him, saying, “I am willing. Be clean!”

He asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, ¹  “You are the Christ.” ² 

Then ¹  he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter ²  answered, ³  “The Christ ⁴  of God.”

Another ¹  said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, ²  and I am going out ³  to examine them. Please excuse me.’

I am no longer worthy to be called your son; treat me ¹  like one of your hired workers.”’

But Peter ¹  said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!” ² 

So ¹  they all said, “Are you the Son of God, ²  then?” He answered ³  them, “You say ⁴  that I am.”

You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ ¹  but rather, ‘I have been sent before him.’

The world cannot hate you, but it hates me, because I am testifying about it that its deeds are evil.

You will look for me ¹  but will not find me, and where I am you cannot come.”

Why don’t you understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot accept ¹  my teaching. ² 

Jesus answered, “I am not possessed by a demon, ¹  but I honor my Father – and yet ²  you dishonor me.

I am not trying to get ¹  praise for myself. ²  There is one who demands ³  it, and he also judges. ⁴ 

Jesus said to them, “I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  before Abraham came into existence, ²  I am!” ³ 

So Jesus said to them again, “I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  I am the door for the sheep. ²
