Those of them who were numbered, counting every male from a month old and upward, were 7,500.

Counting every male from a month old and upward, there were 8,600. They were responsible for the care ¹  of the sanctuary.

All who were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron numbered by the word ¹  of the Lord, according to their families, every male from a month old and upward, were 22,000. ²

Any uncircumcised male ¹  who has not been circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin will be cut off ²  from his people – he has failed to carry out my requirement.” ³ 

We will give you our consent on this one condition: You must become ¹  like us by circumcising ²  all your males.
