Now ¹  the men who were holding Jesus ²  under guard began to mock him and beat him.

Love must be ¹  without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil, cling to what is good.

So welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor people like him,

For surely his concern is not for angels, but he is concerned for Abraham’s descendants.

As for foreigners who become followers of ¹  the Lord and serve him, who love the name of the Lord and want to be his servants – all who observe the Sabbath and do not defile it, and who are faithful to ²  my covenant –

No one invokes ¹  your name, or makes an effort ²  to take hold of you. For you have rejected us ³  and handed us over to our own sins. ⁴ 

so that we who have found refuge in him ¹  may find strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us through two unchangeable things, since it is impossible for God to lie.

“You shall not take ¹  the name of the Lord your God in vain, ²  for the Lord will not hold guiltless ³  anyone who takes his name in vain.

You must follow the Lord your God and revere only him; and you must observe his commandments, obey him, serve him, and remain loyal to him.

his father and mother must seize him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his city.

David then grabbed his own clothes ¹  and tore them, as did all the men who were with him.

For “physical exercise ¹  has some value, but godliness is valuable in every way. It holds promise for the present life and for the life to come.”

Hold to the standard ¹  of sound words that you heard from me and do so with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. ² 

So ¹  the dragon became enraged at the woman and went away to make war on the rest of her children, ²  those who keep ³  God’s commandments and hold to ⁴  the testimony about Jesus. ⁵  (12:18) And the dragon ⁶  stood ⁷  on the sand ⁸  of the seashore. ⁹
