Look, a king will promote fairness; ¹  officials will promote justice. ²

Rehoboam traveled to Shechem, for all Israel had gathered in ¹  Shechem to make Rehoboam ²  king.

In the eighteenth year of the reign of Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijah ¹  became king over Judah.

He ruled for three years in Jerusalem. ¹  His mother was Maacah, the daughter of Abishalom. ² 

Abijah passed away ¹  and was buried ²  in the city of David. His son Asa replaced him as king.
