But I will execute judgment on the nation that they will serve. ¹  Afterward they will come out with many possessions.

Then God said to Abraham, “As for you, you must keep ¹  the covenantal requirement ²  I am imposing on you and your descendants after you throughout their generations.

So Sarah laughed to herself, thinking, ¹  “After I am worn out will I have pleasure, ²  especially when my husband is old too?” ³ 

But Rebekah’s ¹  brother and her mother replied, “Let the girl stay with us a few more days, perhaps ten. Then she can go.”

Then Leah came forward with her children and they bowed down. Finally Joseph and Rachel came forward and bowed down.

Afterward his brother came out – the one who had the scarlet thread on his hand – and he was named Zerah. ¹ 

After these things happened, the cupbearer ¹  to the king of Egypt and the royal baker ²  offended ³  their master, the king of Egypt.

Then ¹  seven heads of grain, withered and thin and burned with the east wind, were sprouting up after them.

He kissed all his brothers and wept over them. After this his brothers talked with him.

Any children that you father ¹  after them will be yours; they will be listed ²  under the names of their brothers in their inheritance. ³ 

The Egyptians chased them and followed them into the middle of the sea – all the horses of Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.

Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, took Moses’ wife Zipporah after he had sent her back,

“The priest must then perform the sin offering ¹  and make atonement for the one being cleansed from his impurity. After that he ²  is to slaughter the burnt offering,

“‘If ¹  she becomes clean from her discharge, then she is to count off for herself seven days, and afterward she will be clean.

When the sun goes down he will be clean, and afterward he may eat from the holy offerings, because they are his food.

You may buy it from your fellow citizen according to the number of years since ¹  the last jubilee; he may sell it to you according to the years of produce that are left. ² 

I will scatter you among the nations and unsheathe the sword ¹  after you, so your land will become desolate and your cities will become a waste.

Then Moses got up ¹  and went to Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel went after him.

But if he should nullify them after he has heard them, then he will bear her iniquity.” ¹ 

“Exact vengeance ¹  for the Israelites on the Midianites ²  – after that you will be gathered to your people.” ³
