When Gideon arrived, he heard a man telling another man about a dream he had. ¹  The man ²  said, “Look! I had a dream. I saw ³  a stale cake of barley bread rolling into the Midianite camp. It hit a tent so hard it knocked it over and turned it upside down. The tent just collapsed.” ⁴ 

It will be like a hungry man dreaming that he is eating, only to awaken and find that his stomach is empty. ¹  It will be like a thirsty man dreaming that he is drinking, only to awaken and find that he is still weak and his thirst unquenched. ²  So it will be for the horde from all the nations that fight against Mount Zion.

So this is what the sovereign Lord says: “Look, my servants will eat, but you will be hungry! Look, my servants will drink, but you will be thirsty! Look, my servants will rejoice, but you will be humiliated!

Abram added, ¹  “Since ²  you have not given me a descendant, then look, one born in my house will be my heir!” ³ 

That is why the well was called ¹  Beer Lahai Roi. ²  (It is located ³  between Kadesh and Bered.)

Then Abraham asked, “Since I have undertaken to speak to the Lord ¹  (although I am but dust and ashes), ² 

But the Lord’s angel ¹  called to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Here I am!” he answered.

Here I am, standing by the spring, ¹  and the daughters of the people ²  who live in the town are coming out to draw water.

Rebekah stands here before you. Take her and go so that she may become ¹  the wife of your master’s son, just as the Lord has decided.” ² 

He ¹  went out to relax ²  in the field in the early evening. ³  Then he looked up ⁴  and saw that ⁵  there were camels approaching.

“Look,” said Esau, “I’m about to die! What use is the birthright to me?” ¹ 

He went to his father and said, “My father!” Isaac ¹  replied, “Here I am. Which are you, my son?” ² 

“Is he well?” ¹  Jacob asked. They replied, “He is well. ²  Now look, here comes his daughter Rachel with the sheep.”

When Jacob saw the look on Laban’s face, he could tell his attitude toward him had changed. ¹ 

When Joseph reached Shechem, ¹  a man found him wandering ²  in the field, so the man asked him, “What are you looking for?”

They said to one another, “Here comes this master of dreams! ¹ 

Later Reuben returned to the cistern to find that Joseph was not in it! ¹  He tore his clothes,

Tamar was told, ¹  “Look, your father-in-law is going up ²  to Timnah to shear his sheep.”

So the chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph: ¹  “In my dream, there was a vine in front of me.

At the end of two full years ¹  Pharaoh had a dream. ²  As he was standing by the Nile,
