Destruction, devastation, and desolation! ¹  Their hearts faint, ²  their knees tremble, ³  each stomach churns, ⁴  each face ⁵  turns ⁶  pale! ⁷ 

But ¹  other seed fell on good soil and produced grain, sprouting and growing; some yielded thirty times as much, some sixty, and some a hundred times.”

so that you may live ¹  worthily of the Lord and please him in all respects ²  – bearing fruit in every good deed, growing in the knowledge of God,

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is an eternal God, the creator of the whole earth. ¹  He does not get tired or weary; there is no limit to his wisdom. ² 

that has come to you. Just as in the entire world this gospel ¹  is bearing fruit and growing, so it has also been bearing fruit and growing ²  among you from the first day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth.

It will produce thorns and thistles for you, but you will eat the grain ¹  of the field.

He is a well-watered plant ¹  in ²  the sun, its shoots spread ³  over its garden. ⁴ 

The light in his tent grows dark; his lamp above him is extinguished. ¹ 

My skin has turned dark on me; ¹  my body ²  is hot with fever. ³ 

then let me sow ¹  and let another eat, and let my crops ²  be uprooted.

I have seen ruthless evil men ¹  growing in influence, like a green tree grows in its native soil. ² 

Do not be afraid when a man becomes rich ¹  and his wealth multiplies! ² 

May their eyes be blinded! ¹  Make them shake violently! ² 

You bring their lives to an end and they “fall asleep.” ¹  In the morning they are like the grass that sprouts up;

My eyes grow tired as I wait for your promise to be fulfilled. ¹  I say, ²  “When will you comfort me?”

There I will make David strong; ¹  I have determined that my chosen king’s dynasty will continue. ² 

My strength leaves me; ¹  I am absolutely shocked. ² 

Wealth gained quickly ¹  will dwindle away, ²  but the one who gathers it little by little ³  will become rich. ⁴ 

The one who associates ¹  with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm. ² 

before the sun and the light ¹  of the moon and the stars grow dark, and the clouds disappear ²  after the rain;
