They came back ¹  to Moses and Aaron and to the whole community of the Israelites in the wilderness of Paran at Kadesh. ²  They reported ³  to the whole community and showed the fruit of the land.

They told Moses, ¹  “We went to the land where you sent us. ²  It is indeed flowing with milk and honey, ³  and this is its fruit.

filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God.

The wicked person desires a stronghold, ¹  but the righteous root ²  endures. ³ 

A shoot will grow out of Jesse’s ¹  root stock, a bud will sprout ²  from his roots.

At harvest time he sent a slave ¹  to the tenants to collect from them ²  his portion of the crop. ³ 

And the fruit that consists of righteousness ¹  is planted ²  in peace among ³  those who make peace.

He said, “What do you see, Amos?” I replied, “A basket of summer fruit.” Then the Lord said to me, “The end ¹  has come for my people Israel! I will no longer overlook their sins. ² 

I am depressed! ¹  Indeed, ²  it is as if the summer fruit has been gathered, and the grapes have been harvested. ³  There is no grape cluster to eat, no fresh figs that I crave so much. ⁴
