He ¹  does not slander, ²  or do harm to others, ³  or insult his neighbor. ⁴ 

All the women who are left in the royal palace of Judah will be led out to the officers of the king of Babylon. They will taunt you saying, ¹  ‘Your trusted friends misled you; they have gotten the best of you. Now that your feet are stuck in the mud, they have turned their backs on you.’ ²

From ¹  the elder, ²  to Gaius ³  my dear brother, whom I love in truth. ⁴ 

and ¹  he contends with God on behalf of man as a man ²  pleads ³  for his friend.

For all of them, ¹  the morning is to them like deep darkness; they are friends with the terrors of darkness.

or have wronged my ally, ¹  or helped his lawless enemy, ² 

I am a friend to all your loyal followers, ¹  and to those who keep your precepts.
