Yet many of the crowd ¹  believed in him and said, “Whenever the Christ ²  comes, he won’t perform more miraculous signs than this man did, will he?” ³ 

And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God ¹  has been poured out ²  in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

For if I do this voluntarily, I have a reward. But if I do it unwillingly, I am entrusted with a responsibility.

At the same time also, prepare a place for me to stay, for I hope that through your prayers I will be given back to you.

while waiting for and hastening ¹  the coming of the day of God? ²  Because of this day, ³  the heavens will be burned up and ⁴  dissolve, and the celestial bodies ⁵  will melt away in a blaze! ⁶ 

He built a hedge around it, ¹  removed its stones, and planted a vine. He built a tower in the middle of it, and constructed a winepress. He waited for it to produce edible grapes, but it produced sour ones instead. ² 

Isaac ¹  said, “Since ²  I am so old, I could die at any time. ³ 

“Does the wild donkey ¹  bray ²  when it is near grass? ³  Or ⁴  does the ox low near its fodder? ⁵ 

“Oh that ¹  my request would be realized, ²  and that God would grant me what I long for! ³ 

All his days ¹  the wicked man suffers torment, ²  throughout the number of the years that ³  are stored up for the tyrant. ⁴ 

So how can you console me with your futile words? Nothing is left of your answers but deception!” ¹ 

This is the portion of the wicked man allotted by God, ¹  the inheritance that evildoers receive from the Almighty.

What then would be one’s lot from God above, one’s heritage from the Almighty ¹  on high?

For it is a fire that devours even to Destruction, ¹  and it would uproot ²  all my harvest.

Now Elihu had waited before speaking ¹  to Job, because the others ²  were older than he was.

Is it not fierce ¹  when it is awakened? Who is he, then, who can stand before it? ²

All of your creatures ¹  wait for you to provide them with food on a regular basis. ² 

You demand that your precepts be carefully kept. ¹
