Because Joseph, her husband to be, ¹  was a righteous man, and because he did not want to disgrace her, he intended to divorce her ²  privately.

I know ¹  what to do so that when I am put out of management, people will welcome me into their homes.’ ² 

But when he was about forty years old, it entered his mind ¹  to visit his fellow countrymen ²  the Israelites. ³ 

we have unanimously ¹  decided ²  to choose men to send to you along with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul,

When any of you has a legal dispute with another, does he dare go to court before the unrighteous rather than before the saints?

For ¹  the Lord had said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites, ‘You are a stiff-necked people. If I went up among you for a moment, ²  I might destroy you. Now take off your ornaments, ³  that I may know ⁴  what I should do to you.’” ⁵ 

So the soldiers said to one another, “Let’s not tear it, but throw dice ¹  to see who will get it.” ²  This took place ³  to fulfill the scripture that says, “They divided my garments among them, and for my clothing they threw dice.” ⁴  So the soldiers did these things.

He ¹  will speak for you to the people, and it will be as if ²  he ³  were your mouth ⁴  and as if you were his God. ⁵ 

Then the Lord relented over the evil that he had said he would do to his people.

If he does not redeem the field, but sells ¹  the field to someone else, he may never redeem it.

“I said, ‘I want to cut them in pieces. ¹  I want to make people forget they ever existed.

So now we are in your power. ¹  Do to us what you think is good and appropriate. ² 

Now this is what we will do to Gibeah: We will attack the city as the lot dictates. ¹ 

Gad went to David and told him, “Shall seven ¹  years of famine come upon your land? Or shall you flee for three months from your enemy with him in hot pursuit? Or shall there be three days of plague in your land? Now decide ²  what I should tell the one who sent me.”

three ¹  years of famine, or three months being chased by your enemies and struck down by their swords, ²  or three days being struck down by the Lord, during which a plague will invade the land and the Lord’s messenger will destroy throughout Israel’s territory.’ ³  Now, decide what I should tell the one who sent me.”

They cast lots, both young and old, according to their families, to determine which gate they would be responsible for. ¹ 

Because of their distress, they turned back to the Lord God of Israel. They sought him and he responded to them. ¹ 

Jehoshaphat was afraid, so he decided to seek the Lord’s advice. ¹  He decreed that all Judah should observe a fast.

Hezekiah ordered that storerooms be prepared in the Lord’s temple. When this was done, ¹ 

All of them conspired together to move with armed forces ¹  against Jerusalem and to create a disturbance in it.
