Give thanks to the Lord with the harp! Sing to him to the accompaniment of a ten-stringed instrument!

O God, I will sing a new song to you! Accompanied by a ten-stringed instrument, I will sing praises to you,

Let them praise his name with dancing! Let them sing praises to him to the accompaniment of the tambourine and harp!

Like tying a stone in a sling, ¹  so is giving honor to a fool.

So my heart constantly sighs for Moab, like the strumming of a harp, ¹  my inner being sighs ²  for Kir Hareseth. ³ 

I did this ¹  because I know how stubborn you are. Your neck muscles are like iron and your forehead like bronze. ² 

But those three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell into the furnace ¹  of blazing fire while still securely bound. ² 

They sing ¹  to the tune of ²  stringed instruments; ³  like David they invent ⁴  musical instruments.

Therefore no one will assign you land in the Lord’s community. ¹ 

They ¹  tied him up, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate ²  the governor. ³ 

Then the squad of soldiers ¹  with their commanding officer ²  and the officers of the Jewish leaders ³  arrested ⁴  Jesus and tied him up. ⁵ 

Then the soldiers cut the ropes ¹  of the ship’s boat and let it drift away. ² 

They said to him, “We promise! ¹  We will only take you prisoner and hand you over to them. We promise not to kill you.” They tied him up with two brand new ropes and led him up from the cliff.

So Ebed Melech took the men with him and went to a room under the treasure room in the palace. ¹  He got some worn-out clothes and old rags ²  from there and let them down by ropes to Jeremiah in the cistern.

When he arrived in Lehi, the Philistines shouted as they approached him. But the Lord’s spirit empowered ¹  him. The ropes around his arms were like flax dissolving in ²  fire, and they ³  melted away from his hands.

So Delilah took new ropes and tied him with them and said to him, “The Philistines are here, ¹  Samson!” (The Philistines were hiding in the bedroom.) ²  But he tore the ropes ³  from his arms as if they were a piece of thread.

So the officials ¹  took Jeremiah and put him in the cistern ²  of Malkijah, one of the royal princes, ³  that was in the courtyard of the guardhouse. There was no water in the cistern, only mud. So when they lowered Jeremiah into the cistern with ropes he sank in the mud. ⁴ 

that I will take nothing ¹  belonging to you, not even a thread or the strap of a sandal. That way you can never say, ‘It is I ²  who made Abram rich.’

So Abraham’s servant ¹  went to the house and unloaded ²  the camels. Straw and feed were given ³  to the camels, and water was provided so that he and the men who were with him could wash their feet. ⁴ 

Binding his foal to the vine, and his colt to the choicest vine, he will wash ¹  his garments in wine, his robes in the blood of grapes.
