And its young ones devour the blood, and where the dead carcasses ¹  are, there it is.”

The sunlight will be turned to darkness and the moon to the color of blood, ¹  before the day of the Lord comes – that great and terrible day!

so that this generation may be held accountable ¹  for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning ²  of the world, ³ 

The sun will be changed to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and glorious ¹  day of the Lord comes.

And both the tabernacle and all the utensils of worship he likewise sprinkled with blood.

“Then ¹  he is to go out to the altar which is before the Lord and make atonement for it. He is to take ²  some of the blood of the bull and some of the blood of the goat, and put it all around on the horns of the altar.

I will punish you as an adulteress and murderer deserves. ¹  I will avenge your bloody deeds with furious rage. ² 

But upright men will punish them appropriately for their adultery and bloodshed, ¹  because they are adulteresses and blood is on their hands.

Then he is to take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it with his finger on the eastern face of the atonement plate, ¹  and in front of the atonement plate he is to sprinkle some of the blood seven times with his finger. ² 

Therefore say to them, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: You eat the meat with the blood still in it, ¹  pray to ²  your idols, and shed blood. Do you really think you will possess ³  the land?

then the community must judge between the slayer and the avenger of blood according to these decisions.

Then they must proclaim, “Our hands have not spilled this blood, nor have we ¹  witnessed the crime. ² 

I will avenge ¹  their blood which I had not previously acquitted. It is the Lord who dwells in Zion!

In ¹  reply all the people said, “Let his blood be on us and on our children!”

Therefore I declare ¹  to you today that I am innocent ²  of the blood of you all. ³ 

“‘Any man ¹  from the house of Israel or from the foreigners who reside ²  in their ³  midst who eats any blood, I will set my face against that person who eats the blood, and I will cut him off from the midst of his people, ⁴ 

Therefore, as surely as I live, declares the sovereign Lord, I will subject you to bloodshed, and bloodshed will pursue you. Since you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you.

The one who builds a city by bloodshed is as good as dead ¹  – he who starts ²  a town by unjust deeds.

Then the one presenting the offering ¹  must slaughter the bull ²  before the Lord, and the sons of Aaron, the priests, must present the blood and splash ³  the blood against the sides of the altar which is at the entrance of the Meeting Tent.

But the Lord said, “What have you done? ¹  The voice ²  of your brother’s blood is crying out to me from the ground!
