Whenever ¹  you enter a town ²  and the people ³  welcome you, eat what is set before you.

In whatever situation someone was called, brothers and sisters, ¹  let him remain in it with God.

But these assets I have come to regard as liabilities because of Christ.

Balaam said to Balak, “Station yourself ¹  by your burnt offering, and I will go off; perhaps the Lord will come to meet me, and whatever he reveals to me ²  I will tell you.” ³  Then he went to a deserted height. ⁴ 

When all your people Israel pray and ask for help, ¹  as they acknowledge their intense pain ²  and spread out their hands toward this temple,

For seven days ¹  you are to make atonement for the altar and set it apart as holy. Then the altar will be most holy. ²  Anything that touches the altar will be holy. ³

Whenever ¹  you enter a town or village, ²  find out who is worthy there ³  and stay with them ⁴  until you leave.

He said to them, “Are you so foolish? Don’t you understand that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him?

For this reason I tell you, whatever you pray and ask for, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

If you remain ¹  in me and my words remain ²  in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you. ³ 

At that time ¹  you will ask me nothing. I tell you the solemn truth, ²  whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you. ³ 

Although these false teachers promise ¹  such people ²  freedom, they themselves are enslaved to ³  immorality. ⁴  For whatever a person succumbs to, to that he is enslaved. ⁵ 

and ¹  whatever we ask we receive from him, because ²  we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing to him.

And if we know ¹  that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask, then we know that we have the requests that we have asked from him.

But these men do not understand the things they slander, and they are being destroyed by the very things that, like irrational animals, they instinctively comprehend. ¹ 

“I, King Artaxerxes, hereby issue orders to all the treasurers of ¹  Trans-Euphrates, that you precisely execute all that Ezra the priestly scribe of the law of the God of heaven may request of you –

But Balaam replied ¹  to Balak, “Did I not tell you, ‘All that the Lord speaks, ²  I must do’?”

These you may eat from among water creatures: anything with fins and scales you may eat,
