Look, I will be waiting at the fords of the desert until word from you ¹  reaches me.”

They captured the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah, ¹  where he ²  passed sentence on him.

The battle was thick ¹  around Saul; the archers spotted him and wounded him. ² 

Caravans ¹  turn aside from their routes; they go ²  into the wasteland ³  and perish. ⁴ 

If he is uprooted ¹  from his place, then that place ²  will disown him, saying, ³  ‘I have never seen you!’

For he ¹  knows deceitful ²  men; when he sees evil, will he not ³  consider it? ⁴ 

Is it because of your piety ¹  that he rebukes you and goes to judgment with you? ² 

a hidden path ¹  no bird of prey knows – no falcon’s ²  eye has spotted it.

He has cut out channels ¹  through the rocks; his eyes have spotted ²  every precious thing.

Look at every proud man and abase him; crush the wicked on the spot! ¹ 

This oppressed man cried out and the Lord heard; he saved him ¹  from all his troubles.

but when the hot wind ¹  blows by, it disappears, and one can no longer even spot the place where it once grew.

and I saw among the naive – I discerned among the youths ¹  – a young man ²  who lacked wisdom. ³ 

Do not let yourself be quickly provoked, ¹  for anger resides in the lap ²  of fools.

For this is what the sovereign master ¹  has told me: “Go, post a guard! He must report what he sees.

to the third white horses, and to the fourth spotted horses, all of them strong. ¹ 

But when the king came in to see the wedding guests, he saw a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes.

When the slave girl saw him, she began again to say to the bystanders, “This man is one of them.”

Then they wanted to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat came to the land where they had been heading.
