So he picked him up and took him to his mother. He sat on her lap ¹  until noon and then died.

I chose ¹  the way for them ²  and sat as their chief; ³  I lived like a king among his troops; I was like one who comforts mourners. ⁴ 

You sat on a magnificent couch, with a table arranged in front of it where you placed my incense and my olive oil.

When it was full, they pulled it ashore, sat down, and put the good fish into containers and threw the bad away.

After he sat down, he called the twelve and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”

So do not be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.” ¹

Then ¹  he came and took the scroll ²  from the right hand of the one who was seated on the throne,

So ¹  the one seated on the cloud swung his sickle over the earth, and the earth was reaped.

The Lord’s angelic messenger ¹  came and sat down under the oak tree in Ophrah owned by Joash the Abiezrite. He arrived while Joash’s son Gideon ²  was threshing ³  wheat in a winepress ⁴  so he could hide it from the Midianites. ⁵ 

But Peter sent them all outside, ¹  knelt down, ²  and prayed. Turning ³  to the body, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” Then she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up. ⁴ 

The one who sits on the furniture the man with a discharge sits on must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.

When ¹  he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain. ²  After he sat down his disciples came to him.

And such a large crowd gathered around him that he got into a boat to sit while ¹  the whole crowd stood on the shore.

When he left there, Jesus went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up a mountain, where he sat down.

Jacob’s well was there, so Jesus, since he was tired from the journey, sat right down beside ¹  the well. It was about noon. ² 

When they sat down to eat their food, they looked up ¹  and saw ²  a caravan of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead. Their camels were carrying spices, balm, and myrrh down to Egypt. ³ 

So the exiles proceeded accordingly. Ezra the priest separated out ¹  by name men who were leaders in their family groups. ²  They sat down to consider this matter on the first day of the tenth month,

On the Sabbath day we went outside the city gate to the side of the river, where we thought there would be a place of prayer, and we sat down ¹  and began to speak ²  to the women ³  who had assembled there. ⁴
