So the Israelites set out and on the third day arrived at their cities – Gibeon, Kephirah, Beeroth, and Kiriath Jearim.

Reach down ¹  from above! Grab me and rescue me from the surging water, ²  from the power of foreigners, ³ 

I overpowered kingdoms ruled by idols, ¹  whose carved images were more impressive than Jerusalem’s ²  or Samaria’s.

“The way you have lived and the things you have done ¹  will bring this on you. This is the punishment you deserve, and it will be painful indeed. ²  The pain will be so bad it will pierce your heart.” ³ 

It grew so big it reached the army ¹  of heaven, and it brought about the fall of some of the army and some of the stars ²  to the ground, where it trampled them.

Toward the end of their rule, when rebellious acts ¹  are complete, a rash ²  and deceitful ³  king will arise. ⁴ 

Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out and it was restored, ¹  as healthy as the other.

Not that I have already attained this – that is, I have not already been perfected – but I strive to lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus also laid hold of me. ¹ 

Then you will escape ¹  through my mountain valley, for the mountains will extend to Azal. ²  Indeed, you will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of King Uzziah ³  of Judah. Then the Lord my God will come with all his holy ones with him.

Her left ¹  hand reached for the tent peg, her right hand for the workmen’s hammer. She “hammered” ²  Sisera, she shattered his skull, ³  she smashed his head, ⁴  she drove the tent peg through his temple. ⁵ 

The king gave another order, ¹  and those men who had maliciously accused ²  Daniel were brought and thrown ³  into the lions’ den – they, their children, and their wives. ⁴  They did not even reach the bottom of the den before the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones.

In the fourth generation ¹  your descendants ²  will return here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its limit.” ³ 

It then descended from Janoah to Ataroth and Naarah, touched Jericho, ¹  and extended to the Jordan River. ² 

The third lot belonged to the tribe of Zebulun ¹  by its clans. The border of their territory ²  extended to Sarid.

The king and all the people who were with him arrived exhausted at their destination, where David ¹  refreshed himself.

So they started toward ¹  the Syrian camp at dusk. When they reached the edge of the Syrian camp, there was no one there.

“Why do the wicked go on living, ¹  grow old, ²  even increase in power?

He led them on a level road, ¹  that they might find a city in which to live.

Beatings and wounds cleanse away ¹  evil, and floggings cleanse ²  the innermost being. ³ 

This is the plan I have devised for the whole earth; my hand is ready to strike all the nations.” ¹
