As she continued praying to ¹  the Lord, Eli was watching her mouth.

When they arrived, Samuel ¹  noticed ²  Eliab and said to himself, ³  “Surely, here before the Lord stands his chosen king!” ⁴ 

¹ The Philistine kept coming closer to David, with his shield bearer walking in front of him.

Perhaps the Lord will notice my affliction ¹  and this day grant me good in place of his curse.” ² 

The Lord rewarded me for my godly deeds; ¹  he took notice of my blameless behavior. ² 

A proclamation ¹  was circulated ²  throughout Judah and Jerusalem ³  that all the exiles were to be assembled in Jerusalem.

I am blameless. ¹  I do not know myself. ²  I despise my life.

If I sinned, then you would watch me and you would not acquit me of my iniquity.

But their prosperity is not their own doing. ¹  The counsel of the wicked is far from me! ² 

“For God speaks, the first time in one way, the second time in another, though a person does not perceive ¹  it.

Surely it is an empty cry ¹  – God does not hear it; the Almighty does not take notice of it.

“Pay attention to this, Job! Stand still and consider the wonders God works.

Of what importance is the human race, ¹  that you should notice ²  them? Of what importance is mankind, ³  that you should pay attention to them, ⁴ 

For the one who takes revenge against murderers took notice of the oppressed; ¹  he did not overlook ²  their cry for help ³ 

The Lord rewarded me for my godly deeds; ¹  he took notice of my blameless behavior. ² 

May he take notice ¹  of your offerings; may he accept ²  your burnt sacrifice! (Selah)

Look, the Lord takes notice of his loyal followers, ¹  those who wait for him to demonstrate his faithfulness ² 

for he is too proud to recognize and give up his sin. ¹ 

Though I have done nothing wrong, ¹  they are anxious to attack. ²  Spring into action and help me! Take notice of me! ³ 

O God, take notice of our shield! ¹  Show concern for your chosen king! ²
