But whenever ¹  you enter a town ²  and the people ³  do not welcome ⁴  you, go into its streets ⁵  and say,

So he said to them, “When you pray, ¹  say: Father, ²  may your name be honored; ³  may your kingdom come. ⁴ 

One of the experts in religious law ¹  answered him, “Teacher, when you say these things you insult ²  us too.”

And I will say to myself, ¹  “You have plenty of goods stored up for many years; relax, eat, drink, celebrate!”’

And when you see the south wind ¹  blowing, you say, ‘There will be scorching heat,’ and there is.

Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’ ¹ 

nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is ¹  in your midst.” ² 

But ¹  he said to them, “How is it that they say that the Christ ²  is David’s son? ³ 

So ¹  they all said, “Are you the Son of God, ²  then?” He answered ³  them, “You say ⁴  that I am.”

Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ¹  ‘Fall on us!’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us!’ ² 

Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, ¹  and you people ²  say that the place where people must worship is in Jerusalem.” ³ 

So the disciples began to say ¹  to one another, “No one brought him anything ²  to eat, did they?” ³ 

When they heard these words, some of the crowd ¹  began to say, “This really ²  is the Prophet!” ³ 

In the law Moses commanded us to stone to death ¹  such women. ²  What then do you say?”

They asked the parents, ¹  “Is this your son, whom you say ²  was born blind? Then how does he now see?”

And because they saw the man who had been healed standing with them, they had nothing to say against this. ¹ 

Then they secretly instigated ¹  some men to say, “We have heard this man ²  speaking blasphemous words against Moses and God.”

(For the Sadducees say there is no resurrection, or angel, or spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.) ¹ 

What then shall we say that Abraham, our ancestor according to the flesh, ¹  has discovered regarding this matter? ² 

For what does the scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited ¹  to him as righteousness.” ²
