“Now his older son was in the field. As ¹  he came and approached the house, he heard music ²  and dancing.

Then ¹  they said, “Why do we need further testimony? We have heard it ourselves ²  from his own lips!” ³ 

Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two disciples who heard what John said ¹  and followed Jesus. ² 

Now when Jesus ¹  knew that the Pharisees ²  had heard that he ³  was winning ⁴  and baptizing more disciples than John

Then many of his disciples, when they heard these things, ¹  said, “This is a difficult ²  saying! ³  Who can understand it?” ⁴ 

When they heard these words, some of the crowd ¹  began to say, “This really ²  is the Prophet!” ³ 

Some of the Pharisees ¹  who were with him heard this ²  and asked him, ³  “We are not blind too, are we?” ⁴ 

So when he heard that Lazarus ¹  was sick, he remained in the place where he was for two more days.

The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. ¹ 

Because they had heard that Jesus ¹  had performed this miraculous sign, the crowd went out to meet him.

Why do you ask me? Ask those who heard what I said. ¹  They ²  know what I said.”

Then they secretly instigated ¹  some men to say, “We have heard this man ²  speaking blasphemous words against Moses and God.”

So when Jacob heard that there was grain ¹  in Egypt, he sent our ancestors ²  there ³  the first time.

He ¹  fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, ²  why are you persecuting me?” ³ 

(Now the men ¹  who were traveling with him stood there speechless, ²  because they heard the voice but saw no one.) ³ 

and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard and your acts of charity ¹  have been remembered before God. ² 

While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on ¹  all those who heard the message. ² 

When ¹  they heard ²  this they became enraged ³  and began to shout, ⁴  “Great is Artemis ⁵  of the Ephesians!”

When we heard this, both we and the local people ¹  begged him not to go up to Jerusalem.

(When they heard ¹  that he was addressing ²  them in Aramaic, ³  they became even ⁴  quieter.) ⁵  Then ⁶  Paul said,
