Now if a man finds his enemy, does he send him on his way in good shape? May the Lord repay you with good this day for what you have done to me.

when someone told me that Saul was dead – even though he thought he was bringing good news ¹  – I seized him and killed him in Ziklag. That was the good news I gave to him!

But Joab said to him, “You will not be a bearer of good news today. You will bear good news some other day, but not today, ¹  for the king’s son is dead.”

The watchman said, “It appears to me that the first runner is Ahimaaz ¹  son of Zadok.” The king said, “He is a good man, and he comes with good news.”

What good will it do you ¹  then ²  to go down to Egypt to seek help from the Egyptians? ³  What good will it do you ⁴  to go over to Assyria to seek help from the Assyrians? ⁵ 

The Lord said to me, “What do you see, Jeremiah?” I answered, “I see figs. The good ones look very good. But the bad ones look very bad, so bad that they cannot be eaten.”

“I, the Lord, the God of Israel, say: ‘The exiles whom I sent away from here to the land of Babylon ¹  are like those good figs. I consider them to be good.

I will give them a single-minded purpose to live in a way that always shows respect for me. They will want to do that for ¹  their own good and the good of the children who descend from them.

What good ¹  is an idol? Why would a craftsman make it? ²  What good is a metal image that gives misleading oracles? ³  Why would its creator place his trust in it ⁴  and make ⁵  such mute, worthless things?

God called the dry ground “land” ¹  and the gathered waters he called “seas.” God saw that it was good.

But as for you, ¹  you will go to your ancestors ²  in peace and be buried at a good old age. ³ 

I also saw in my dream ¹  seven heads of grain growing on one stalk, full and good.

I thought this was a good idea, ¹  so I sent ²  twelve men from among you, one from each tribe.

and to keep the Lord’s commandments and statutes that I am giving ¹  you today for your own good?

So now we are in your power. ¹  Do to us what you think is good and appropriate. ² 

I refused to respond to Balaam; he kept ¹  prophesying good things about ²  you, and I rescued you from his power. ³ 

Perhaps the Lord will notice my affliction ¹  and this day grant me good in place of his curse.” ² 

Now, O Lord, you are the true God; ¹  you have made this good promise to your servant. ² 

He died at a good old age, having enjoyed long life, wealth, and honor. ¹  His son Solomon succeeded him.

This is what Hezekiah did throughout Judah. He did what the Lord his God considered good and right and faithful.
