Eat honey, ¹  my child, for it is good, and honey from the honeycomb is sweet to your taste.

The one who keeps the law ¹  is a discerning child, ²  but a companion of gluttons brings shame ³  to his parents. ⁴ 

A rod and reproof ¹  impart ²  wisdom, but a child who is unrestrained ³  brings shame ⁴  to his mother. ⁵ 

There will be so few trees left in his forest, a child will be able to count them. ¹ 

As a mother consoles a child, ¹  so I will console you, and you will be consoled over Jerusalem.”

Then he got up, took the child and his mother during ¹  the night, and went to Egypt.

So ¹  he got up and took the child and his mother and returned to the land of Israel.

When he entered he said to them, “Why are you distressed and weeping? The child is not dead but asleep.”

He took a little child and had him stand among them. Taking him in his arms, he said to them,

I tell you the truth, ¹  whoever does not receive ²  the kingdom of God like a child ³  will never ⁴  enter it.”

But they did not have a child, because Elizabeth was barren, ¹  and they were both very old. ² 

She ¹  exclaimed with a loud voice, ²  “Blessed are you among women, ³  and blessed is the child ⁴  in your womb!

On ¹  the eighth day ²  they came to circumcise the child, and they wanted to name ³  him Zechariah after his father.

He went ¹  to be registered with Mary, who was promised in marriage to him, ²  and who was expecting a child.

And the child grew and became strong, ¹  filled with wisdom, ²  and the favor ³  of God ⁴  was upon him.

But when Jesus discerned their innermost thoughts, ¹  he took a child, had him stand by ²  his side,

I tell you the truth, ¹  whoever does not receive ²  the kingdom of God like a child ³  will never ⁴  enter it.”

to Timothy, my dear child. Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord!

I am appealing ¹  to you concerning my child, whose spiritual father I have become ²  during my imprisonment, ³  that is, Onesimus,

The Lord said to Abraham, “Why ¹  did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really ²  have a child when I am old?’
