When Saul and all the Israelites ¹  heard these words of the Philistine, they were upset and very afraid.

When all the men of Israel saw this man, they retreated ¹  from his presence and were very afraid.

When Saul saw the camp of the Philistines, he was absolutely terrified. ¹ 

Saul himself was in the thick of the battle; ¹  the archers ²  spotted him and wounded him severely.

I was very angry when I heard their outcry and these complaints. ¹

I am absolutely terrified, ¹  and you, Lord – how long will this continue? ² 

May all my enemies be humiliated ¹  and absolutely terrified! ²  May they turn back and be suddenly humiliated!
