‘I will give you an eternal dynasty ¹  and establish your throne throughout future generations.’” ²  (Selah)

Even before the mountains came into existence, ¹  or you brought the world into being, ²  you were the eternal God. ³ 

But the Lord continually shows loyal love to his faithful followers, ¹  and is faithful to their descendants, ² 

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, ¹  so the Lord surrounds his people, now and forevermore.

Certainly ¹  my enemies ²  chase me. They smash me into the ground. ³  They force me to live ⁴  in dark regions, ⁵  like those who have been dead for ages.

The earth is defiled by ¹  its inhabitants, ²  for they have violated laws, disregarded the regulation, ³  and broken the permanent treaty. ⁴ 

Fairness will produce peace ¹  and result in lasting security. ² 

In a burst ¹  of anger I rejected you ²  momentarily, but with lasting devotion I will have compassion on you,” says your protector, ³  the Lord.

You were once abandoned and despised, with no one passing through, but I will make you ¹  a permanent source of pride and joy to coming generations.

They will rebuild the perpetual ruins and restore the places that were desolate; ¹  they will reestablish the ruined cities, the places that have been desolate since ancient times.

the one who made his majestic power available to Moses, ¹  who divided the water before them, gaining for himself a lasting reputation, ² 

So their land will become an object of horror. ¹  People will forever hiss out their scorn over it. All who pass that way will be filled with horror and will shake their heads in derision. ² 

For he did not kill me before I came from the womb, making my pregnant mother’s womb my grave forever. ¹ 

In a far-off land the Lord will manifest himself to them. He will say to them, ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love. That is why I have continued to be faithful to you. ¹ 

Yet I will remember the covenant I made with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish a lasting ¹  covenant with you.

The traders among the peoples hiss at you; you have become a horror, and will be no more.’”

All who know you among the peoples are shocked at you; you have become terrified and will be no more.’”

I will turn you into a perpetual desolation, and your cities will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

The offerings ¹  of Judah and Jerusalem ²  will be pleasing to the Lord as in former times and years past.

All the raised offerings of the holy things that the Israelites offer to the Lord, I have given to you, and to your sons and daughters with you, as a perpetual ordinance. It is a covenant of salt ¹  forever before the Lord for you and for your descendants with you.”
