rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth, ¹  and delighting ²  in its people. ³ 

When a wicked person dies, his expectation perishes, ¹  and the hope of his strength ²  perishes. ³ 

No one ¹  can be established ²  through wickedness, but a righteous root ³  cannot be moved.

The shrewd person ¹  conceals ²  knowledge, but foolish people ³  publicize folly. ⁴ 

The lazy person does not roast ¹  his prey, but personal possessions ²  are precious to the diligent.

A wise child ¹  brings joy to his father, but a foolish person ²  despises ³  his mother.

A person ¹  plans his course, ²  but the Lord directs ³  his steps. ⁴ 

A person’s gift ¹  makes room for him, and leads him ²  before important people.

A person’s folly ¹  subverts ²  his way, and ³  his heart rages ⁴  against the Lord.

A person’s wisdom ¹  makes him slow to anger, ²  and it is his glory ³  to overlook ⁴  an offense.

What is desirable ¹  for a person is to show loyal love, ²  and a poor person is better than a liar. ³ 

It is a snare ¹  for a person ²  to rashly cry, ³  “Holy!” and only afterward to consider ⁴  what he has vowed. ⁵ 

The human spirit ¹  is like ²  the lamp ³  of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts. ⁴ 

The one who wanders ¹  from the way of wisdom ²  will end up ³  in the company of the departed. ⁴ 

There is desirable treasure and olive oil ¹  in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish person ²  devours all he has. ³ 

When the righteous rejoice, ¹  great is the glory, ²  but when the wicked rise to power, people are sought out. ³ 

Blessed is the one who is always cautious, ¹  but whoever hardens his heart ²  will fall into evil.

The one who reproves ¹  another ²  will in the end ³  find more favor than the one who flatters ⁴  with the tongue.

When the wicked gain control, ¹  people ²  hide themselves, ³  but when they perish, ⁴  the righteous increase.

A person’s pride ¹  will bring him low, ²  but one who has a lowly spirit ³  will gain honor.
