Will ¹  there be an end to your ²  windy words? ³  Or what provokes ⁴  you that you answer? ⁵ 

You have seized me, ¹  and it ²  has become a witness; my leanness ³  has risen up against me and testifies against me.

“If ¹  I cry out, ²  ‘Violence!’ ³  I receive no answer; ⁴  I cry for help, but there is no justice.

I summon ¹  my servant, but he does not respond, even though I implore ²  him with my own mouth.

I would know with what words ¹  he would answer me, and understand what he would say to me.

I cry out to you, ¹  but you do not answer me; I stand up, ²  and you only look at me. ³ 

“They are dismayed ²  and cannot answer any more; they have nothing left to say. ³ 

I too will answer my part, I too will explain what I know.

Why do you contend against him, that he does not answer all a person’s ¹  words?

Then ¹  they cry out – but he does not answer – because of the arrogance of the wicked.

Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind: ² 

“Will the one who contends ¹  with the Almighty correct him? ²  Let the person who accuses God give him an answer!”

I have spoken once, but I cannot answer; twice, but I will say no more.” ¹ 

Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind:

They cry out, but there is no one to help them; ¹  they cry out to the Lord, ²  but he does not answer them.

The Lord will deliver the king; ¹  he will answer us ²  when we call to him for help! ³ 

Rescue me from the mouth of the lion, ¹  and from the horns of the wild oxen! ²  You have answered me! ³ 

I sought the Lord’s help ¹  and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.

Pay attention to me and answer me! I am so upset ¹  and distressed, ²  I am beside myself, ³ 

When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor.
