he will deliver even someone who is not innocent, ¹  who will escape ²  through the cleanness of your hands.”

O Lord my God, if I have done what they say, ¹  or am guilty of unjust actions, ² 

The Lord rescues his servants; ¹  all who take shelter in him escape punishment. ² 

Look, I was guilty of sin from birth, a sinner the moment my mother conceived me. ¹ 

The one who says to the guilty, ¹  “You are innocent,” ²  peoples will curse him, and nations will denounce ³  him.

Remember this, so you can be brave! ¹  Think about it, you rebels! ² 

They will bear their punishment; ¹  the punishment of the one who sought an oracle will be the same as the punishment of the prophet who gave it ² 

You have heard the blasphemy! What is your verdict?” ¹  They all condemned him as deserving death.

Or these men here ¹  should tell what crime ²  they found me guilty of ³  when I stood before the council, ⁴ 

Those guilty of sin ¹  must be rebuked ²  before all, ³  as a warning to the rest. ⁴ 

Everyone who practices sin ¹  also practices lawlessness; ²  indeed, ³  sin is lawlessness.

When you make a vow to the Lord your God you must not delay in fulfilling it, for otherwise he ¹  will surely ²  hold you accountable as a sinner. ³

Who among you can prove me guilty ¹  of any sin? ²  If I am telling you ³  the truth, why don’t you believe me?

They said to one other, ¹  “Surely we’re being punished ²  because of our brother, because we saw how distressed he was ³  when he cried to us for mercy, but we refused to listen. That is why this distress ⁴  has come on us!”
