Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct he should show his works done in the gentleness that wisdom brings. ¹ 

(for while he lived among them day after day, that righteous man was tormented in his righteous soul ¹  by the lawless deeds he saw and heard ² )

But you do have this going for you: ¹  You hate what the Nicolaitans ²  practice ³  – practices I also hate.

‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. ¹  I wish you were either cold or hot!

(Look! I am coming soon, and my reward is with me to pay ¹  each one according to what he has done!

yet we know ¹  that no one ²  is justified by the works of the law ³  but by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. ⁴  And ⁵  we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by the faithfulness of Christ ⁶  and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one ⁷  will be justified.

Therefore pay attention to what they tell you and do it. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they teach. ¹ 

They ¹  do all their deeds to be seen by people, for they make their phylacteries ²  wide and their tassels ³  long.

When ¹  Jesus learned of this, he said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She ²  has done a good service for me.

So you testify that you approve of ¹  the deeds of your ancestors, ²  because they killed the prophets ³  and you build their ⁴  tombs! ⁵ 

For everyone who does evil deeds hates the light and does not come to the light, so that their deeds will not be exposed.

But the one who practices the truth comes to the light, so that it may be plainly evident that his deeds have been done in God. ¹ 

Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of the one who sent me ¹  and to complete ²  his work. ³ 

Jesus replied, ¹  “This is the deed ²  God requires ³  – to believe in the one whom he ⁴  sent.”

The world cannot hate you, but it hates me, because I am testifying about it that its deeds are evil.

You people ¹  are doing the deeds of your father.” Then ²  they said to Jesus, ³  “We were not born as a result of immorality! ⁴  We have only one Father, God himself.”

Jesus answered, “Neither this man ¹  nor his parents sinned, but he was born blind so that ²  the acts ³  of God may be revealed ⁴  through what happens to him. ⁵ 

We must perform the deeds ¹  of the one who sent me ²  as long as ³  it is daytime. Night is coming when no one can work.

The Jewish leaders ¹  replied, ²  “We are not going to stone you for a good deed ³  but for blasphemy, ⁴  because ⁵  you, a man, are claiming to be God.” ⁶ 

Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me, but if you do not believe me, ¹  believe because of the miraculous deeds ²  themselves.
