When they have drunk it, they will stagger to and fro ¹  and act insane. For I will send wars sweeping through them.” ² 

“Son of man, eat your bread with trembling, ¹  and drink your water with anxious shaking.

“But you made the Nazirites drink wine; ¹  you commanded the prophets, ‘Do not prophesy!’

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon!’ ¹ 

So ¹  do not be overly concerned about ²  what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not worry about such things. ³ 

For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit ¹  of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” ² 

A Samaritan woman ¹  came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me some water ²  to drink.”

The one who eats ¹  my flesh and drinks my blood resides in me, and I in him. ² 

For the kingdom of God does not consist of food and drink, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

She should not drink ¹  anything that the grapevine produces. She must not drink wine or beer, and she must not eat any food that will make her ritually unclean. ²  She should obey everything I commanded her to do.”

But they answered, “We do not drink wine because our ancestor Jonadab son of Rechab commanded us not to. He told us, ‘You and your children must never drink wine.

Jesus ¹  answered, “You don’t know what you are asking! ²  Are you able to drink the cup I am about to drink?” ³  They said to him, “We are able.” ⁴ 

For the Lord says, “If even those who did not deserve to drink from the cup of my wrath must drink from it, do you think you will go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, but must certainly drink from the cup of my wrath. ¹ 

He said to her, “Give me a little water to drink, because I’m thirsty.” She opened a goatskin container of milk and gave him some milk to drink. Then she covered him up again.

Let his own eyes see his destruction; ¹  let him drink of the anger of the Almighty.

They put bitter poison ¹  into my food, and to quench my thirst they give me vinegar to drink. ² 

Wine ¹  is a mocker ²  and strong drink is a brawler; whoever goes astray by them is not wise. ³ 

We must pay money ¹  for our own water; ²  we must buy our own wood at a steep price. ³ 

So the warden removed the delicacies and the wine ¹  from their diet ²  and gave them a diet of vegetables instead.

A person should examine himself first, ¹  and in this way ²  let him eat the bread and drink of the cup.
