Then ¹  the angel I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven

Then ¹  another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle.

Then ¹  I saw an angel descending from heaven, holding ²  in his hand the key to the abyss and a huge chain.

Then ¹  I saw another angel ascending from the east, ²  who had ³  the seal ⁴  of the living God. He ⁵  shouted out with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given permission ⁶  to damage the earth and the sea: ⁷ 

Next I saw Joshua the high priest ¹  standing before the angel of the Lord, with Satan ²  standing at his right hand to accuse him.

So ¹  I took the little scroll from the angel’s hand and ate it, and it did taste ²  as sweet as honey in my mouth, but ³  when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter.

I will greatly multiply your descendants,” the Lord’s angel added, ¹  “so that they will be too numerous to count.” ² 

Then the angel of the Lord stood in a path ¹  among the vineyards, where there was a wall on either side. ² 

When the Lord’s messenger finished speaking these words to all the Israelites, the people wept loudly. ¹ 

The Lord’s messenger appeared and said to him, “The Lord is with you, courageous warrior!”

The Lord’s messenger told ¹  Manoah, “Your wife should pay attention to everything I told her. ² 

The Lord ordered the messenger ¹  to put his sword back into its sheath.

But David could not go before it to seek God’s will, for he was afraid of the sword of the Lord’s messenger.

Then ¹  the third angel ²  poured out his bowl on the rivers and the springs of water, and they turned into blood.

Then ¹  the fourth angel ²  poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was permitted to scorch people ³  with fire.

The Lord’s messenger touched the meat and the unleavened bread with the tip of his staff. ¹  Fire flared up from the rock and consumed the meat and unleavened bread. The Lord’s messenger then disappeared. ² 

The Lord’s messenger said to Manoah, “If I stay, ¹  I will not eat your food. But if you want to make a burnt sacrifice to the Lord, you should offer it.” (He said this because Manoah did not know that he was the Lord’s messenger.) ² 

Man ate the food of the mighty ones. ¹  He sent them more than enough to eat. ² 

He replied, “Don’t you know what these are?” So I responded, “No, sir.”

The angel said to him, “Fasten your belt ¹  and put on your sandals.” Peter ²  did so. Then the angel ³  said to him, “Put on your cloak ⁴  and follow me.”
