They have given the corpses of your servants to the birds of the sky; ¹  the flesh of your loyal followers to the beasts of the earth.

I will hand them over to their enemies who want to kill them. Their dead bodies will become food for the birds and the wild animals. ¹ 

All the birds of the sky nested in its boughs; under its branches all the beasts of the field gave birth, in its shade all the great ¹  nations lived.

Therefore the land will mourn, and all its inhabitants will perish. ¹  The wild animals, ²  the birds of the sky, and even the fish in the sea will perish.

I will throw my bird net over them while they are flying, I will bring them down like birds in the sky; I will discipline them when I hear them flocking together.

He mounted ¹  a winged angel ²  and flew; he glided ³  on the wings of the wind. ⁴ 

all flesh would perish together and human beings would return to dust.

They are calloused; ¹  they speak arrogantly. ² 

before the vindictive enemy who ridicules and insults me. ¹ 

I keep track of ¹  every bird in the hills, and the insects ²  of the field are mine.

They speak as if they rule in heaven, and lay claim to the earth. ¹ 

I said, ¹  “I will weep and mourn ²  for the grasslands on the mountains, ³  I will sing a mournful song for the pastures in the wilderness because they are so scorched no one travels through them. The sound of livestock is no longer heard there. Even the birds in the sky and the wild animals in the fields have fled and are gone.”

Men are nothing but a mere breath; human beings are unreliable. ¹  When they are weighed in the scales, all of them together are lighter than air. ² 

I will leave you on the ground, I will fling you on the open field, I will allow ¹  all the birds of the sky to settle ²  on you, and I will permit ³  all the wild animals ⁴  to gorge themselves on you.

If someone thinks he is religious yet does not bridle his tongue, and so deceives his heart, his religion is futile.

The people ¹  who did not die were struck with sores; the city’s cry for help went all the way up to heaven.

Then a breath of air ¹  passes ²  by my face; it makes ³  the hair of my flesh stand up.

Do you intend to criticize mere words, and treat ¹  the words of a despairing man as wind?

Remember ¹  that my life is but a breath, that ²  my eyes will never again ³  see happiness.

“Does a wise man answer with blustery knowledge, ¹  or fill his belly ²  with the east wind? ³
