Because they are callous, they have given themselves over to indecency for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness. ¹ 

and live ¹  in love, just as Christ also loved us ²  and gave himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering ³  to God.

complete my joy and be of the same mind, ¹  by having the same love, being united in spirit, ²  and having one purpose.

For we are the circumcision, ¹  the ones who worship by the Spirit of God, ²  exult in Christ Jesus, and do not rely on human credentials ³ 

So then, my brothers and sisters, ¹  dear friends whom I long to see, my joy and crown, stand in the Lord in this way, my dear friends!

And my God will supply your every need according to his glorious riches ¹  in Christ Jesus.

being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might for the display of ¹  all patience and steadfastness, joyfully

So ¹  in all our distress and affliction, we were reassured about you, brothers and sisters, ²  through your faith.

We pray earnestly night and day to see you in person ¹  and make up what may be lacking in your faith.

And may the Lord cause you to increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we do for you,

But the aim of our instruction ¹  is love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith. ² 

For there will be a time when people ¹  will not tolerate sound teaching. Instead, following their own desires, ²  they will accumulate teachers for themselves, because they have an insatiable curiosity to hear new things. ³ 

It trains us ¹  to reject godless ways ²  and worldly desires and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,

He ¹  gave himself for us to set us free from every kind of lawlessness and to purify for himself a people who are truly his, ²  who are eager to do good. ³ 

For the one who wants to love life and see good days must keep ¹  his tongue from evil and his lips from uttering deceit.

Then ¹  I saw another great and astounding sign in heaven: seven angels who have seven final plagues ²  (they are final because in them God’s anger is completed).

The land produced vegetation – plants yielding seeds according to their kinds, and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. God saw that it was good.

“Before I finished praying in my heart, ¹  along came Rebekah ²  with her water jug on her shoulder! She went down to the spring and drew water. So I said to her, ‘Please give me a drink.’

I am not worthy of all the faithful love ¹  you have shown ²  your servant. With only my walking stick ³  I crossed the Jordan, ⁴  but now I have become two camps.

Now Jacob’s sons had come in from the field when they heard the news. ¹  They ²  were offended ³  and very angry because Shechem ⁴  had disgraced Israel ⁵  by sexually assaulting ⁶  Jacob’s daughter, a crime that should not be committed. ⁷
