Yet ¹  I wait for you, O Lord! You will respond, O Lord, my God!

They stalk ¹  and lurk; ²  they watch my every step, ³  as ⁴  they prepare to take my life. ⁵ 

The wicked prepare to kill me, ¹  yet I concentrate on your rules.

Blessed is the one who waits and attains to the 1,335 days.

For the message is a witness to what is decreed; ¹  it gives reliable testimony about how matters will turn out. ²  Even if the message ³  is not fulfilled right away, wait patiently; ⁴  for it will certainly come to pass – it will not arrive late.

So be patient, brothers and sisters, ¹  until the Lord’s return. ²  Think of how the farmer waits ³  for the precious fruit of the ground and is patient ⁴  for it until it receives the early and late rains.

If a man dies, will he live again? ¹  All the days of my hard service ²  I will wait ³  until my release comes. ⁴ 

He lies in ambush in a hidden place, like a lion in a thicket; ¹  he lies in ambush, waiting to catch ²  the oppressed; he catches the oppressed ³  by pulling in his net. ⁴ 

Wait patiently for the Lord! ¹  Wait confidently ²  for him! Do not fret over the apparent success of a sinner, ³  a man who carries out wicked schemes!

But you must return ¹  to your God, by maintaining love and justice, and by waiting ²  for your God to return to you. ³ 

But I will keep watching for the Lord; I will wait for the God who delivers me. My God will hear my lament. ¹ 

“But if he strikes him out of hatred or throws something at him intentionally ¹  so that he dies,

Now, come up ¹  at night with your men ²  and set an ambush in the field outside the city. ³ 

But now, O Lord, upon what am I relying? You are my only hope! ¹ 

The words of the wicked lie in wait ¹  to shed innocent blood, ²  but the words ³  of the upright will deliver them.

They waited so long they were embarrassed, but he still did not open the doors of the upper room. Finally they took the key and opened the doors. ¹  Right before their eyes was their master, sprawled out dead on the floor! ² 

He waited for seven days, the time period indicated by Samuel. ¹  But Samuel did not come to Gilgal, and the army began to abandon Saul. ² 

How much less, then, when you say that you do not perceive him, that the case is before him and you are waiting for him! ¹ 

I yearn for the Lord, ¹  more than watchmen do for the morning, yes, more than watchmen do for the morning. ² 

But those who wait for the Lord’s help ¹  find renewed strength; they rise up as if they had eagles’ wings, ²  they run without growing weary, they walk without getting tired.
